Mulysa is currently not scheduling new work.
You can submit an online tattoo request and your request will be reviewed and added to her wait list. Mulysa prioritizes work that is of particular interest to her and we can't guarantee all requests will be scheduled.
Mulysa's career in tattooing began in 1990, after a loose-knit apprenticeship with a friend but is mostly self-taught. Over the years she traveled and worked all around New England and New York in public and private studios, most notably, Cliff's Tattoo in Long Island, NY, where she was able to work alongside such notable guests as Lyle Tuttle, Filip Leu and Kari Barba and add to her cache of knowledge from working with some of the most talented artists in NY.
In 1995 she joined the effort to legalize tattooing in MA, with many other artists, where it had been illegal since 1957. After the failure and fall of many bills, and with the great efforts of other MA tattooers and the assistance of the ACLU, the ban was finally lifted in 1999. After legalization she worked at a host of various MA studios and traveled doing guest spots around the US before opening Good Mojo Tattoos in 2009.
Since getting her first tattoo, she's understood the power of these magickal marks and for years has studied the history of the tattoo from ancient civilizations into modern times. In her work she combines her own magickal practice with sacred skincraft to create magickal works for others in a ritual setting. Many of the tattoos she does are centered around personal transformation, healing, empowerment and initation. She enjoys large pieces with mythological/spiritual themes, Gods and Goddesses, Orishas and Loa, magickal symbols, and fantastical portraiture and dream path-workings. Her style inspired by the masters of Art Nouveau with thick graphic outlines combined with thin flowing internal lining with soft shading and the vividly blended colours of Maxfield Parrish. She has been known for her complex Celtic knotwork in her early years and for her portraiture today. She doesn't like to be pigeonholed into one genre of tattooing and is known for her versatility with styles from playing with American Traditional styles to photo-realism.
Besides tattooing she offers a presentation on "The Witch's Mark: The Magick of Tattoo" (since 1996) and "Hekate: Unveiling the Queen of the Dead" and is a frequent presenter at Salem's annual Festival of the Dead and New Orleans' HEXFEST, both hosted by Christian Day and Brian Cain. She also writes, gardens and creates mixed media art. She and her work have been published in "Body Art"(UK), "SAVAGE"(US), "Tattoo Planet"(Italy), "Skin & Ink" (US ), the magickal journal "BEHUTET", she has presented at Appalachia State University in Boone, NC and Montserrat College of Art (Beverly, MA) and has been on CNN discussing tattooing, interviewed on "AM Coast to Coast" with George Noory discussing witchcraft and on WCVB TV's "Chronicle". She is a traditionalist initiate Witch and OTO initiate.
Mulysa works by appointment only. (Ritual tattooing is not available at this time. Magickal tattooing is always available! )
